AT ROOTS YOUTH, WE’RE DEVELOPING STUDENTS WHO ACTIVELY ENGAGE CHRIST IN THEIR WORLD!

At Roots Youth and Sparta EFC, we’re all about students, families and Jesus. We do more than just “hang out” with students, though that is a vital part of what we do. And at the right time, we dig in to help them dig down deep, within themselves, one another, their families and the Word of God. Our goal is to help students continue to DEVELOP…grow…mature. The only way to develop students biblically is in relationship with Jesus Christ, and so we disciple STUDENTS to ACTIVELY, or continually with a moment-by-moment intentionality, make the repeated decision to submit their will to God, which means to put into practice, or ENGAGE, the person and work of CHRIST in their lives…their WORLD, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

CHRIST

Experience a growing relationship with Christ

We live in a world of virtual “experiences”. We watch movies and are drawn in to the emotion, the excitement, the drama. We feel the rush, our adrenaline kicks in and we think we’ve experienced something other than simply a movie. We’ve only watched and been affected by someone else’s experience!

God has so much more in mind for us in our relationship with Him. He wants us to understand first hand what it means to have

a personal and growing relationship with Jesus. Our hope is that every student will:
  • Have a Personal Relationship with Jesus
  • Understand and Articulate their Faith
  • Be Involved with Intentional Discipleship
  • Demonstrate the Fruit of the Spirit

theWORD

Know Christ by knowing God’s Word

Students are constantly bombarded with messages that influence their decision-making and ultimately alter the course of their life! Somewhere in the midst of all this noise the Bible (God’s precious Word) breaks through to our mind and heart to lead us as the only absolute truth, clearly guiding us through life in relationship with God and others.

All of our confidence is in God’s Word, and the more we know of this Word…both in our mind and embraced with our whole heart…

the more we will experientially know Jesus Christ and be able to live life to its fullest. A few of our primary goals for students are that they will:
  • Abide in Christ by Abiding in His Word
  • Understand that all of the Bible is Centered on Jesus
  • Flesh Out the Relationship Between Knowing and Doing God’s Word
  • Rest their Hope Fully in the Words of God in Scripture

FAMILY

Understand God’s design for Your Family

God designed families to be together forever, but as we all know, many relationships that we know are broken. We want to help students and parents embrace God’s design for the family while encouraging them to live well in the whatever circumstance they are in…however challenging it may be. God’s grace is on display when we are living in relationship with Him and is ready to help us all contribute to a better relationship with those in your family.

A few of our top priorities are:
  • Discovering what the Bible really says about family
  • Encouraging parents to teach & model the Word at home
  • Helping parents & teens embrace their role and season of life
  • Assisting teens & parents as they seek to repair fractured relationships

FRIENDS

Pursue and invest in Godly Friendships

Building quality friendships doesn’t happen by simply clicking a “like” button! Relationships take work, initiative and investment. God’s designed us to have godly friendships with people who have a relationship with Him and with those who don’t. We can encourage each other with God’s Truth while spreading the Good News throughout our world.

We love to see students who are:
  • Choosing friendships that help their spiritual growth
  • Balancing time & energy between “closest friends” & getting to know others
  • Building great, healthy friendships with those who don’t come to church or may not know Jesus
  • Learn to push through hurts that are relationships bring and pursue healing in Jesus
